I really liked the concept that Collin and I discussed of the large peacock tale-type thing that Amy would fold up at the start. It has a whole "leave them wanting more" aspect that I think works really well.

If we were to integrate the folding peacock tail with the kinetic sculptures of my previous post, the end result could be fantastic.

Here are a few links to some interesting pieces along with my thoughts that tie with them.

Peacock 1-If we are sticking to black materials, the effect of cutting out and layering more abstract, organic designs could be really neat
Peacock 2-Another example of some shapes that would work with a cutout design
White Peacock-On the other hand, full white shapes made of airy, light materials would also be quite striking.

I think we're supposed to start animating tomorrow, so it would be great to get further feedback from you guys. Amy, particularly what materials you are considering using since we are supposed to mirror them somehow.

  1. from what I've heard we're still in the planning stages so I wouldn't become too attached to one idea. I don't know why, but throughout most of today I was imagining a dress made out of slinkys.

  2. im not sure what materials i am using yet, but my prof wants it to be like a bunch of small pieces that come together to make a whole. for instance, how this pic in the link is made entirely out of cups but doesnt look like that from afar
